Two proposed routes for 765-kV power line could run through South Bloomfield

SOUTH BLOOMFIELD, Ohio — Two of the three routes under review for a possible major transmission line project could pass through South Bloomfield, village officials said in a recent press release.

The proposed 765-kilovolt “Grid Growth East” line from Grid Growth Ventures would use towering high-voltage lines about 175 feet tall, the village said.

One option would run north of a local sod farm and south of the U.S. 23 rest area; another would run south of Bloomfield Hills and north of the Genevieve Jones Nature Preserve, according to village officials. The company has not selected a final route.

PJM Interconnection, the regional grid operator, selected Grid Growth Ventures to build two 765-kV lines connecting facilities in Coshocton and Guernsey counties to Pickaway and Fairfield counties amid growing regional power demand. Both lines are before the Ohio Power Siting Board — the Adkins–West Millersport project (Case No. 26-0813-EL-BTX) and the Conesville–Guernsey project (Case No. 26-0812-EL-BTX). The company expects to file applications with the board in spring 2027 after environmental and engineering studies are complete. Residents can submit comments through the company’s website.
