FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Ohio — A resident was pulled from a burning home and flown to a hospital early Saturday after firefighters found the person inside during a search of the blaze, the Berne Township Fire Department said.
Firefighters were dispatched about 1 a.m. Saturday to a residential structure fire, according to the department. Crews found the fire inside the home and began extinguishment operations, then located a conscious resident during the search-and-rescue phase and brought the person out.
Medics from the Lancaster Fire Department treated the resident at the scene before transferring the patient to an air ambulance crew, which flew the resident to a regional medical facility, the department said. The resident’s identity and condition have not been released, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
