WAVERLY, Ohio — Public school districts across Pike County are meeting state standards, according to the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce’s newest annual report cards.
All four districts — Eastern Local, Scioto Valley Local, Waverly City and Western Local — received overall ratings of at least three stars on the state’s five-star scale, department data shows. A three-star rating means a district is meeting state standards.
Scioto Valley Local led the county with an overall rating of 3.5 stars. The district’s strongest areas were graduation and college, career and military readiness, each earning four stars. Its weakest areas were achievement and gap closing, each rated two stars.
Waverly City and Western Local each earned three stars overall. Waverly stood out with a five-star graduation rating, while Western Local earned five stars for readiness. Both districts also received two-star marks in achievement, early literacy, progress and gap closing.
Eastern Local received three stars overall, led by a four-star early literacy rating. Its one-star progress rating was the only one-star mark given to any district in the county this year.
The report cards grade districts on achievement, progress, early literacy, gap closing, graduation, and college, career, and military readiness.
