COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 12-hour multi-agency sweep in Franklin County on Wednesday seized 9 kilograms of fentanyl, four illegal guns and 17 impounded vehicles and produced 14 arrests, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office conducted the sweep, its fourth Operation Unity of 2026, with the Franklin Township Police Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Prairie and Franklin townships on Nov. 4, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies and officers made 198 traffic stops during the operation, issuing 84 traffic citations, 16 seatbelt citations and nine distracted-driving citations, the sheriff’s office said. Five people were arrested on felony charges and nine on misdemeanor charges, including warrant arrests, and 18 drivers were cited for operating without a license.
The 9 kilograms — 9,000 grams — of fentanyl were seized during a search warrant, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies also seized 3 grams of methamphetamine.
The sheriff’s office said rain hampered the operation but did not stop deputies from remaining proactive, and it thanked the partner agencies, saying operations like this will continue to keep criminals off the streets. All figures in this story are from the sheriff’s office’s own recap of the operation.
