WEST UNION, Ohio — The Humane Society of Adams County is asking for donations to help cover a $364.50 balance for veterinary care for its shelter pets at Adams County Veterinary Services, according to a press release from the organization.
Most animals arrive at the shelter needing sterilization, vaccinations, disease testing, flea and tick treatment and deworming, the release says, and some arrive with serious illnesses, infections or injuries from car strikes, animal bites and abuse. The society credits Dr. Meakin and the staff at Adams County Veterinary Services with generous discounts on services and care, but says the cost of caring for shelter pets still adds up despite surrender fees, adoption fees and volunteers donating their time and products.

The Humane Society of Adams County, Inc. is a small, local, private nonprofit organization, unaffiliated with any state or national organization, and it relies entirely on donations for support, according to the release.

Donations can be made online through GoFundMe or at AdamsCountyAnimals.org, or in person at Adams County Veterinary Services, 125 South Manchester Street in West Union, where gifts go directly toward the society’s balance, the release says. Any funds raised beyond the balance will be used to help future shelter pets.
The society’s shelter director is Meghann Fast, and the shelter can be reached at 937-544-8585. The organization also posts updates on its Facebook page.
