J News Network’s God’s Eye Ohio traffic camera system has been offline since about 9 a.m. Sunday — not because of anything on JNN’s end, but because the Ohio Department of Transportation’s statewide camera feed is down.
God’s Eye draws its live camera views, incidents and alerts from ODOT’s OHGO system, which normally carries live feeds from 1,116 highway cameras across Ohio. That feed began returning no cameras at all Sunday morning. The cameras briefly came back at about 9:36 a.m., then went dark again minutes later, and the feed was still empty Sunday afternoon. ODOT’s own OHGO service has been hit by the same outage.
J News Network asked ODOT about the failure on Sunday. ODOT Press Secretary Matt Bruning confirmed the problem is on the state’s side: “There’s an issue and IT is working on it with the vendor.” ODOT has not given a time for when the cameras will be restored.
Everything else on J News Network is working normally — the news site, the JNN app, JNN TV and the Roku channel are all up. Only the camera, incident and alert features that depend on ODOT’s data are down. The God’s Eye channel on JNN TV is showing a notice about the outage and automatically checks the state feed every minute.
There is nothing viewers need to do. God’s Eye runs on ODOT’s data, so the cameras will come back on their own as soon as the state feed is restored. J News Network is monitoring the feed around the clock and will update this story when the cameras return.
