WAVERLY, Ohio — Waverly City Schools received another bomb threat Friday morning, the latest in a string of threats targeting the district this school year — a pattern echoing the serial threats that plagued Ross County’s Huntington Local School District, a case in which no arrests were ever made.
According to a district statement, the threat came in after students and staff had already arrived for the day. The district immediately implemented its established safety protocols, which it says have been followed consistently since the threats began.
The buildings were thoroughly checked and secured before the start of the school day with no concerns identified, the district said.
During the procedures, the buildings were checked again and confirmed safe so operations could resume, according to the statement.
The Waverly Police Department is providing additional security around the clock and maintaining a presence at the schools to reassure students and staff. The district said those safety measures will continue and that it remains vigilant.
No arrests have been announced in connection with the threats.
