GREENFIELD, Ohio — A 36-year-old Chillicothe man was arrested Thursday night in Greenfield following an undercover sting conducted by the Greenfield Police Department and the Highland County Task Force.
Nathan T. Freeman, 36, of Chillicothe, was communicating online with an undercover officer he believed was 15 years old, according to information provided about the case.
Freeman allegedly sent sexually explicit material during the online conversations before traveling to Greenfield at approximately 7:30 p.m. Investigators say he arrived with sex toys and lubricant.
Authorities conducted a traffic stop and took Freeman into custody without incident.
Freeman is charged with felony importuning and two counts of disseminating harmful material to a juvenile.
He appeared in court Friday morning and pleaded not guilty. He was released on a signature bond with an ankle monitor. His probable cause hearing is scheduled for Aug. 24.
Freeman works for the VA’s Fire and EMS division in Chillicothe, and serves on the board of the Ross County Fire Association. He also is involved with other area departments and organizations.
The allegations have raised questions about Freeman’s various positions involving emergency services and events attended by children.
Freeman is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
