GROVE CITY, Ohio — The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is warning motorists to remain alert after two vehicles were struck by gunfire Monday morning on Interstate 71 near the Interstate 270 interchange and Stringtown Road.
Deputies responded to the area at approximately 7:26 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, after receiving a report that two vehicles had been struck by gunfire while traveling southbound on I-71.
According to investigators, an unknown suspect reportedly fired multiple rounds from a moving vehicle, striking both vehicles.
One of the victims told investigators they saw a dark gray or dark-colored SUV swerve onto the I-270 interchange at a high rate of speed.
Investigators believe the SUV may be connected to the shooting. No further description of the vehicle or license plate information is currently available.
No injuries were reported.
Franklin County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating the incident and reviewing surveillance video from businesses and other locations in the surrounding area in an effort to identify the suspect.
