COLUMBUS, Ohio — A grand jury has indicted Aaron Swift on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, felony hit-skip and tampering with evidence in a fatal February crash on Interstate 70, according to the Columbus Division of Police.
The indictment was returned Oct. 20, according to a post Wednesday by the division. The department’s arrest-update graphic listed Swift as 43 years old and listed Oct. 20, 2026, as the date of arrest.
On Feb. 28, at approximately 2:01 a.m., Swift was driving west on I-70 approaching State Route 315 when he entered a construction zone and swerved to the right, striking 26-year-old Jordan Thomas and fleeing in his vehicle, according to the division.
Thomas was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the division.
The division did not say in the post where Thomas was at the time he was struck, whether Swift is in custody following the indictment, or when a court hearing is scheduled. An indictment is a formal charge, not a conviction.
