ASHVILLE, Ohio — Two Ashville police officers went into a burning home late Wednesday and brought out a resident who was asleep in her bed as the fire burned, the department said.
Officers James Ford and Seamus “Mac” McSweeney were dispatched to 179 Jefferson Ave. at about 11:46 p.m. Wednesday after a structure fire was reported, according to a department press release issued Thursday.
Both officers entered the burning residence to search for anyone who might still be inside. Ford located a woman asleep in her bed and safely escorted her out of the home, the release said.
Harrison Township firefighters extinguished the fire and limited the damage to the home, the department said.
In the release, Chief Bryan D. Cline said he was “extremely proud” of both officers for their courage, professionalism and dedication to protecting the community. The department also thanked the Harrison Township Fire Department for its quick response.
The release did not identify the resident, report any injuries, or state a cause for the fire.
