Ramaswamy brings gubernatorial campaign to Jackson County

JACKSON, Ohio — Republican candidate for Ohio governor Vivek Ramaswamy visited Jackson County on Thursday, sitting down with local media for a video interview alongside his wife, Dr. Apoorva Ramaswamy, during a trip tied to a private campaign fundraiser.

Asked why he is running, Ramaswamy said he is grateful for the opportunities Ohio and the country gave his family and described a moral duty to leave the state better than he found it.

He recounted his parents’ move from India to southwest Ohio, his father’s job at a GE plant in Evendale and his mother’s work in nursing homes and at the VA, and his own years in Ohio public schools.

Ramaswamy noted he has spent time in Jackson County before, including a visit for the Apple Festival.

The stop comes with Election Day less than a month away. Ramaswamy, an Ohio native and former presidential candidate, faces Democrat Amy Acton in the November general election.
