Firefighters Respond to Structure Fire in Bloomingburg

BLOOMINGBURG, Ohio — Fire crews from across Fayette County responded Monday to a working structure fire in Bloomingburg after multiple reports of a fully engulfed building were received by Fayette County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers.

Washington Court House Fire/Rescue Department crews were dispatched to assist the BPM Joint Fire District and worked alongside firefighters from several departments during the response.

Crews handled fire attack, overhaul, command and accountability operations as firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control.

No occupants were home at the time of the fire, according to Washington Court House Fire/Rescue. One firefighter sustained minor injuries.

The response included personnel from BPM Joint Fire Association, Washington Court House Fire/Rescue Department, Jefferson Township Fire & EMS, Pic-A-Fay Joint Fire District and Range Township Fire Department.

Fayette County EMS, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette County Box 65 Scene Support, CenterPoint Energy, AES Ohio and the American Red Cross also assisted with the incident.

Washington Court House Fire/Rescue thanked Fayette County dispatchers for their communication during the response and credited the agencies involved for working together with the goal of ensuring everyone returned home safely.

The cause of the fire and the extent of damage were not provided in the information released.
