LUCASVILLE, Ohio — A student at the Scioto County Career Technical Center was detained Tuesday afternoon after it was reported to school administration that the student had a firearm, the school said.
The student was immediately detained by school administration and the school resource officer, according to the school’s statement. The item was discovered not to be a real firearm.
The school said there was no need for a lockdown on campus because of the quick response. The school resource officer and administration are working closely with the Scioto County Sheriff’s Department.
“Due to the administration’s quick response, there was no need for a lockdown situation for our campus,” the school said. “Thanks to our students and staff for their vigilance and quick reporting of this issue.”
The school did not identify the student and did not say what the item was.
