HIGHLAND COUNTY, Ohio — A Lynchburg woman was killed Wednesday afternoon when the sport utility vehicle she was driving was rear-ended by a semi truck on U.S. 62 in Highland County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The patrol identified the woman as Debbie Westfall, 60, of Lynchburg.
Troopers said Westfall was driving a 2016 Nissan Rogue northbound on U.S. 62 near Custer Road around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and had slowed to make a left turn when her vehicle was struck from behind by a 2011 Freightliner truck traveling in the same direction. The impact sent the Rogue off the west side of the roadway.
Debris from the collision also struck a southbound Ford F-150 pickup, causing minor damage to that vehicle, according to the patrol.
The Freightliner was driven by a 17-year-old, the patrol said. The driver is not being named because of his age. Information about injuries to the other drivers was not available in the patrol’s account.
U.S. 62 was temporarily closed while troopers investigated and has since reopened, according to reports.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
