The Village of McConnelsville also issued a water service advisory, saying firefighters were drawing water from hydrants throughout town.

“As a result, you may experience temporarily discolored water today,” the village said in its public notice. The announcement did not report a boil advisory or identify contamination. Residents were asked for patience while emergency crews worked.

The cause of the fire, extent of damage and any injuries had not been established in the information available Tuesday morning. No official determination about hazardous materials or environmental contamination was available.

The two-hour delay was a change to the school schedule, not an announced cancellation of classes. The district said its buildings were unaffected by the fire.
