CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A Chillicothe man is charged with felonious assault after police say he stabbed an acquaintance during a dispute Wednesday evening on Winona Boulevard, the latest police action tied to a home on the street that was raided last year in a shooting investigation.
Albert Scoles was arrested Oct. 14 after officers were called to the 100 block of Winona Boulevard at about 7:45 p.m. for a reported stabbing, according to Chillicothe police. Officers found the victim, Mark Wagner, in the street with a wound to his torso. He was taken to Adena Regional Medical Center with a 2.5-inch laceration to the back of his rib cage.
Police said Scoles was detained nearby and officers took three knives from him, including a hip-mounted knife that appeared to have fresh blood on the blade. He was booked into the Ross County Jail on the felonious assault charge.
The home at 146 Winona Blvd. has a history. On Oct. 18, 2025, officers responded there after Albert Scoles allegedly shot his brother, Andrew Scoles, in the leg during an altercation. A search warrant executed in that investigation turned up more than 30 firearms — several stolen or with defaced serial numbers — along with suspected methamphetamine and $12,900 in cash, police said. Charges in the shooting case were later dropped at Andrew Scoles’ request.
The federal government then built its own case at the same address. ATF agents used a confidential informant to make two controlled methamphetamine purchases from Andrew Scoles at the home in January — about 128 grams in all, recorded on surveillance — and on Feb. 6 agents executed a federal search warrant there, recovering about eight more firearms, including a rifle with an obliterated serial number, according to a federal affidavit. Andrew Scoles was charged with being a felon in possession of firearms and with distributing 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, and remains in federal custody.
