PIKE COUNTY, Ohio — Students at Western Pike Local Schools were evacuated from their building Wednesday morning after the district received a bomb threat, prompting an immediate security response.
In a statement posted to social media Oct. 14, school officials said all students had been moved outside the building while personnel conducted a search.
The district said school buses were being held as officials checked classrooms, lockers and locker rooms for potential threats.
School officials said they were following established safety protocols and would notify parents once the building had been cleared and students could safely enter.
The district did not immediately provide additional information about the nature of the threat or whether law enforcement was assisting with the investigation.
This is a developing story. J News Network will provide updates as additional information becomes available.
