PIKETON, Ohio — Local leaders met Wednesday to discuss the economic impact of the American Energy Hub and the PORTS Technology Campus planned at the former Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Piketon.
Federal projections cited for the project describe up to 30,000 peak construction jobs and more than 1,000 permanent jobs on a five-year timeline, along with a $40 million community investment, according to U.S. Department of Energy figures.
The campus is the planned redevelopment of the former uranium enrichment site in Pike County, where data center and energy projects have drawn intense local attention this fall.
