CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Chillicothe is asking residents to weigh in on a new road-safety plan, launching an online survey to pinpoint the city’s most dangerous streets and crossings.
City officials said the survey will feed into a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan funded through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All program. The plan will catalog roadway safety problems across the city and lay out projects and strategies to fix them, with a focus on keeping drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians safe.
The effort draws on a $120,000 SS4A planning grant the city won in May 2024, one of eight Ohio communities picked in that round. Mayor Luke Feeney said at the time the award would help Chillicothe plan more effectively for safer roadways and support its longer-term goal of earning Bicycle Friendly City status, a target named in the Choose Chillicothe comprehensive plan.
Residents can take the survey online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MTGY78P. The city also has a project page at engage.chillicotheoh.gov where people can track the plan’s progress, and officials said public meetings on the plan will be scheduled in the coming months.
